Maui is an amazing vacation destination for the entire family. Its abundance of beauty and outdoor adventure are just the things you need to get your kids to put down their phones and experience the glory of the natural world. Come make some amazing memories with your kids in Hawaii with these five fun ideas.

Here are 5 Things to Do in Maui That Your Kids Will Actually Love!

Snorkeling

The warm, blue waters of Maui are teaming with life just below the surface. As soon as you press your snorkel mask into the water, you may see black triggerfish, yellow tang, moray eels, raccoon butterfly fish, manta rays, sea turtles, and maybe even a white tip reef shark! Maui is full of amazing snorkeling spots, and even young children can enjoy the experience. Some of our favorite Maui snorkeling spots are: Molokini Crater, Turtle Town, and the Coral Gardens.

Luau

Visiting Maui gives you a chance to introduce your children to ancient Hawaiian traditions and help them learn to appreciate different cultures. There’s no place better to do this than at a traditional Luau. Watch dancers in gorgeous costumes shake their hips to the beat of mythic songs as you enjoy some of Hawaii’s best cultural dishes. Our favorite place to enjoy a Luau is the Old Lahaina Luau, which has been going strong since 1986!

Parasailing

Inject some excitement into your Maui vacation with safe and fun parasailing. This activity is great for children of all ages and adults too! When you lift up and out of the water, soar and sail through the air, you’ll get to see the ocean stretching below your feet as dormant volcanos rise in the distance. Parasailing is something you can do individually or together in a joined harness with your children. You’ll also get some amazing pictures that make for perfect keepsakes and social media posts.

Hiking

Maui’s beaches and oceans are beautiful, but there’s more to our island than sand and water. Walk into our interior, and you’ll discover gorgeous mountain trails that lead to secret waterfalls! Our island is filled with amazing hikes that will spark an early love of nature within your children. This is also a great way to burn off the extra calories from that luau and to spend quality time outdoors with the whole family. Some of our favorite hikes include: ‘Iao Valley State Park, Twin Falls, and Makahiku Falls.

The Beach!

Okay, so of course we had to put the beach of our list. You’re in Maui, after all. One of the things for kids to do is spend at least one day at the beach; This is a must (and a great way to save a little money). Douse your kids in plenty of sunscreen, and then let them play the day away building sandcastles, rushing into the warm, calm waters, and taking naps in the shade. You can rent snorkeling masks, boogie boards, stand-up paddleboards, and surfboards at reasonable rates to get even more out of your time on our golden sands. Our favorite beaches are: Makena Beach State Park, Palauea (White Rock), and Ho’okipa Beach Park.
