After a long, easy day relaxing on Maui’s beautiful seashores, you might want to amp things up for the night. Sitting down for a delicious dinner and a tropical drink is a good start, but what about adding some awesome live music to the picture? If you are spending your time in South Maui, then you’re in luck. There are a handful of local places that regularly host great live music that will sweep you up on cascades of brilliant melody. Here is your chance to sample some local talent and maybe even enjoy a big surprise. Willie Nelson, Mick Fleetwood, and Steven Tyler all spend a lot of time in Maui and have been known to put on a surprise show or two.

Mulligans on the Blue

Maui’s only Irish pub offers affordable drinks, beautiful ocean views of Wailea, and a popular happy hour. Yes, you can order beer battered fish & chips and baked shepherd’s pie, along with local catches of the day. Wash that down with a tropical cocktail, a selection from the bar’s extensive whiskey list, or the self-proclaimed best Irish coffee in the Pacific. Mulligans also offers plenty of live music, including local Hawaiian musicians and Celtic bands. Check out their calendar for upcoming acts.

Haui’s Life’s a Beach

Life’s a Beach, known locally as LAB, is a place to shoot some pool, challenge your buddies to a game of foosball, and watch the big sports game. This busy bar on South Kihei Road offers classic pub grub and doesn’t mind its reputation as being a little unvarnished. The big concrete whale across the street makes it hard to miss, but if you need any more help finding the place, just listen for the live music. LAB brings in live music every day of the week during happy hour. If you’d rather impress the locals with your own pipes, swing by for karaoke on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Kahale’s Beach Club

Kahale’s Beach Club in Kihei is famous for its $3.50 Happy Hour Mai Tais, which are made from scratch. Kahale’s embraces its dive bar reputation, offering good food, potent drinks, and great live music every night of the week. If you want to keep the party going without shelling out your entire food budget on drinks, Kahale’s will keep you lubricated and having fun!
