packing for Maui Hawaii

Maui is warm year round with slight temperature changes during our peak holiday season being cooler than our hottest months of late summer.

When visiting Maui, it’s important to pack breathable and light-colored clothing. Maui experiences a tropical climate year-round, with temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit. During the day, you may encounter high humidity levels, making it necessary to wear lightweight and breathable fabrics. Light colors will also help keep you cool as they reflect sunlight and absorb less heat.

Our bright sun can quickly lead to sunburns if you’re not careful. Wide-brimmed hats provide more coverage than sunscreen alone, shielding your head, eyes, face, and neck from the strong rays of the sun. Keep your style casual with long pants and a light jacket for a cool night or if you decide to summit Haleakala, two dress-up styles for resort dining, and two swimsuits.

Other fun items to pack include waterproof cell phone cases or a Go-Pro, sun shirts, sunglasses and slippahs (flip-flops or sandals), and tennis/hiking shoes. TIP: In a pinch use a zip log bag to keep cellphones and keys away from water and sand at the beach.

Keep in mind that it can rain, and probably will for at least 15 minutes at some point.  If it happens to rain for longer, you should have a rain jacket or something comparable to handle exploring with.
