The Annual Maui Open Studios Event is a series of free self-guided tours of artist studios and exhibitions throughout the island of Maui. It kicks off with a festive Opening Celebration and Preview Exhibition on Saturday, February 2 from 5pm – 8pm at the UHMC Pa’ina Culinary Arts Center in Kahului where visitors can meet many of the artists, preview their work, pick up guidebooks, enjoy live music, and complimentary wine throughout the evening. The Opening Celebration is followed by 3 weekends of artist open studios when the public is invited to visit over 95 artists at their venues.
The art-loving, art-buying public enjoys one-on-one interactions with local and visiting artists and have the opportunity to learn about what inspires them, talk story and purchase art directly from the artists. Venues range from art studios, galleries, homes, outdoor venues and other alternative exhibition spaces. Many artists serve refreshments, some give live demonstrations and some may even have live entertainment.
Printed guidebooks and online artist directories guide visitors to the artist studios and exhibition spaces around the island where the participating artists show. During the event, there are red “MOS” street signs directing you to artist locations. Guidebooks can also be picked up at locations around the island which will be listed on our website in January.
