An active lifestyle helps people become a better version of themselves. It instills confidence, drives motivation, and strengthens focus on things that matter the most. Now while it’s never too late to focus on your fitness, it’s always better when you start young.

With this in mind, the Maui County has been championing Maui 5K – an annual marathon now it in its 8th run – to drive conversations and active donations towards developing fitness and physical activity in children of the Maui County schools.

Maui 5K (now renamed to Run For Fitness) started in April 2011 to help empower the Maui County schools and youth clubs. Their objectives are:

  • To help provide additional funds for the physical education, fitness, play, and athletic programs in our Maui County schools and youth clubs
  • To increase participation in youth sports and recreation programs
  • To help fight childhood obesity
  • To help our children live a happier, more active and healthy lifestyle

Today, Maui 5k starts from Ma’alaea triangle every year and sees thousands of runners run and raise to support fitness, physical activity, and a stronger community for our children.

Best of all: all proceeds and donations from the Maui 5K are distributed back to the schools.

How can you participate in Maui 5K?

Maui 5K is scheduled for March 3, 2019, at 7:00 am. This year it is bigger, better, and stronger.

There will be a timed 5K race and a fun, untimed 1 Mile Run/Walk for Keiki and adults. You can register for the 5K race for only $35.00 and the 1 mile, untimed and fun walk for only $30.00.

If you have a stroller with you, you can register them for only $10.00. However, it is mandatory that all strollers are accompanied by a participant.

The race ends at the parking lot area off of Hauoli St and you can see the entire course here.

Packet pickup for both the 5K and 1 Mile Keiki run/walk will be held as follows:

Saturday, March 2, 2019  – 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Location – Adventure Sports Maui, 400 Hana Hwy., Kahului, HI  96732

You can register for the Maui 5K here. If you don’t want to sign up online, you can send a paper application by downloading this form.

Remember: all proceeds from this event go to the schools, enabling them to build a robust physical activity system for the children of Maui.

In the virtual run, you can run in your neighborhood of choice and you’d still be able to create an impact by enabling your contribution to directly transform the way our children experience an active lifestyle.

The virtual run is for $35 only. Did we mention you’d also be mailed special Maui 5K T-shirts? To know more about the virtual run, visit here.
