The island of Maui offers as many diverse activities as any destination in the world. From the dense rainforests of Hana to the sun drenched beaches of Kihei and the spectacular landscapes of Haleakala Crater, you’re sure to find something to stimulate your adventurous spirit or calm your weary mind.
Toss away those postcard beaches. Now you get to experience the real thing. Maui’s 30 miles of beaches offer you powder soft sand and warm aqua waters. These are some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world and are perfect for an afternoon nap, an all-day outing with the kids, or a romantic sunset stroll with your someone special. From Makena Beach State Park, to Palauea, Oneuli Beach, and Charlie Young Beach there are dozens of beach destinations to choose from, each with their own personality and crowd.
Land Activities in Maui
While we’re certainly known for our beaches, Maui also offers a rugged interior filled with natural splendor. You can’t avoid the looming giant of Haleakala. This ancient volcano makes up a majority of our island. You can hike to its peak, drive up to watch the sunrise, or even test your courage with a bumpy mountain bike ride down.
Once you’ve conquered the mountain, keep the thrills coming. Soar above the lush canopy of trees on a zip line in Ka’anapali, or drive along the twists and turns on the Road to Hana. Our island is crisscrossed with numerous trails, perfect for hiking, jogging, climbing, biking, and horseback riding. You can even rappel down a waterfall!
Ocean Adventures in Maui
The Pacific Ocean is warm, calm, and startlingly clear off the shores of Maui, which makes it the perfect looking glass to discover teeming life beneath its surface. Snorkeling is a fun adventure for old and young alike. Peer into the water, and you might catch a glimpse of sea turtles, colorful fish, bright coral, and even manta rays! If you want to dive a little deeper, we have some of the top scuba diving spots in the world.
That’s only the beginning of our water activities. Swim with our playful dolphins or drop a line and see if you can pull a striped marlin, sailfish, mahi-mahi, or spearfish out of the water. Dinner is on you! If you come during the winter months, you’ll be able to catch sight of our favorite ocean residents, the humpback whales that relax in our warm waters over the winter. If you’d rather stay close to shore, try surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, and standup paddle boarding. You can find plenty of guides to help you learn any of these cool activities.
Air Adventures in Maui
There’s nothing quite like seeing our island from the air, especially because there are parts of the island so remote that the only way you can reach them is by helicopter. Set down for an amazing lunch in a hidden pocket of the island forgotten by time. Airplane and helicopter tours make for great corporate outings, romantic dates, or family adventures.
The Good Life in Maui
The best Maui vacations include time to relax and unwind. Maui offers great spas where you can indulge in a well-deserved massage, facial, or body wrap. Add in an early morning yoga session before you lace up your hiking boots.
We also invite you to try out some of our world class golf courses, including the Gold Course at Wailea Golf Club, the King Kamehameha Course, and the Ka’anapali Kai Course. Many of these golf courses have adapted the local natural lava rocks and landscapes into the course’s design and also offer breathtaking views as you play.
The good life doesn’t have to end on the eighteenth hole. Sip pineapple wine at Ulupalakua Vineyards, the only winery on the island, or take a tour of our unique lavender farm, Alli Kula Lavender. These are one-of-a-kind destinations.
Nightlife and Shows
When the sun goes down, it’s not time to go to bed! Maui is still wide awake and offers plenty of great nightlife. You can’t leave the island without going to a luau, where you can watch traditional Hawaiian dance and hear authentic Hawaiian music.
There are also plenty of shows available for the whole family. One of our favorite is the ‘Ulalena at the Maui Theatre, which showcases Hawaii’s history.
Of course, there are always events big and small going on all over the island. Many local institutions offer live music, karaoke, and dancing, and the Maui County Office of Economic Development hosts a big town party on a different part of the island every Friday. Check to see what events are happening during your stay, or, better yet, just ask us!
We are happy to help you fill your schedule with your brand of fun.
