Maui is filled with amazing restaurants, but one of the best benefits of renting a vacation home, condo, or apartment on your trip to Maui is that you can actually prepare home-cooked meals. Cooking at home saves you money, lets you be super romantic, and helps you maintain a healthy eating habit. Here in Maui, we make it extra easy to cook delicious and nutritious meals. That’s because our island contains lots of local farms, and as a result, we have some of the best farmers markets in the world.

If you get a chance, come visit one of our farmers markets. You’ll get the freshest locally grown veggies, fruits, and other produce. This is also your chance to try some of our Maui specialties and meet our amazing craftsmen. Here are just a few of our favorite farmers markets in Maui:

Maui Nui Farm – Kula

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 8 am – 5 pm

Maui Nui is a 40-acre farm that sits right on the slope of Haleakala. It is owned by Nui Mizel, and her son, Kit. The farm’s abundant rainfall, cool temps, and nourishing soil result in lots of amazing produce that will make your taste buds do the hula. Some of its most famous crops include: strawberries, avocadoes, papayas, bok choy, and zucchini. It also produces beautiful flowers that will brighten up your vacation rental or add that extra romantic touch over dinner.

Maui Fresh Farmers Market – Kahului

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 8 am to 4 pm

If you want to do a little extra shopping or even go grab a movie before you pick up some fresh food for dinner, then check out the Maui Fresh Farmers Market at the Queen Kaahumanu Center. This neat little market includes what you would expect at a Maui farmers market, mainly locally grown veggies, fruits, berries, and melons. You can also find fresh local fish in the mornings, as well as flowers, honey, and international foods. When you’re done at the market, you can head into the shopping center to track down some souvenirs or treat yourself to some retail therapy.

Upcountry Farmers Market – Pukalani/Kula

Saturday from 7 am – 11 am

If you can only visit one farmers market during your time in Maui, this should be it. The Upcountry Farmers Market is the oldest farmers market on Maui. It’s been running for more than 40 years and has been voted “Best of Maui” for multiple years. These days, it includes over 50 vendors that sell everything from coconuts to macadamia nuts, fresh caught fish, Maui grown coffee, and tropical flowers. If you can, swing by this market early in your trip and stock up!
