It’s only because the oceans and beaches of Maui are so gorgeous that so many visitors never realize that our island is also a major golfing retreat. If you don’t feel whole without a golf club in your hand, then you’ve come to the right place! Though we have over a dozen golf courses on Maui, we personally think some of the best courses can be found at the Wailea Golf Club.

At the Wailea Golf Club, you can choose to play at one of three unique courses – the Blue Course, the Emerald Course or the Gold Course. Each course offers its own unique challenges and rewards, but no matter which one you choose, you’re guaranteed a great day out on the fairway!

Wailea Blue Course

On your first trip to the Wailea Golf Club, you might just want to pay your respects to a classic. Built in 1972 by Arthur Jack Synder, the Blue Course is the oldest course at the club, but age hasn’t taken anything away from this fun experience. You’ll enjoy amazing views as you travel along this course which sits close to massive Mt. Haleakala. The dormant volcano shields you from high winds, which will either improve your game or steal away one of your favorite excuses for a bad arc. Make sure you take a little time to enjoy the picturesque views of oceans, mountains, and coral sand bunkers.

The Blue Course can challenge any level of golfer, but its three boxes at each tee and reasonable green fees make this an ideal option for newer golfers or those who would rather save a few bucks for some celebratory martinis after the 18th hole.

Wailea Emerald Course

The 6,825-yard Emerald Course is so gorgeous that you might be forgiven for taking your eye off the ball to gaze around at the lush fairways, beautiful foliage, and sweeping ocean views. On most clear days, you can even catch a glimpse of far off islands! The Emerald Course offers a fun and fulfilling day for golfers of all types, but its generous fairways, few forced carries, and multiple boxes at each tee make it particularly friendly for the ladies. Golf for Women Magazine gave the Emerald Course a Top Fairways Award.

Wailea Gold Course

Wailea Golf Club’s signature course is the Gold Course, which will give even experienced golfers quite a battle. This course is known for its rugged design which incorporates the natural island terrain. Don’t be surprised when you have to putt between stunning lava rock formations. The Gold Course has received numerous golf and design awards from Gold Magazine, Golf Digest, Conde Nast Traveler, Zagat, and others, and it hosted the Champions Skins Game until 2007. If you truly want a golfing treat that is sure to vex you and stun you at the same time, put the Gold Course on your list.

After you’ve put in a hard day’s work out on the course, reward yourself with a delicious repast. The Wailea Golf Club offers some of the best eats on the island, including its fine dining restaurant, Gannon’s. Mulligan’s is a more relaxed and family friendly option, and Maonli’s Pizza will always hit your hunger sweet spot!

All the golfing delights you could wish for are right here in Wailea! Don’t stray too far. At Ali’i Resorts, we offer many beautiful and spacious vacation condos in Wailea, all within walking distance to the beach or a short drive to the greens. Take a look at our 2016 new condo collection now!
