#2. You haven’t really seen sunrise unless you’ve been to the summit of Haleakala!  Sunrise is the most popular time to visit because you’re able to see the sun break through the clouds below you.  Haleakala Observatory is one of the most important observing sites in the world. It’s worth being above clouds for sunrise, as it gives you a completely different experience.  Tip: sunrise requires a reservation ahead of time.  If you want to go, the easiest way is on a tour.  Otherwise, consider visiting mid-day or before sunset.  Sometimes, the weather will obscure sunrise, so take your chances or go later!

Zip through the treetops at the Maui Tropical Plantation, where lush landscapes, swaying palms and majestic views of the Central Valley are wide open. It’s family-friendly, exciting, and fun!  Afterward, you can pop into the Country Store for produce from the farms on the property as well as souvenirs.
