Okay, so Napa Valley, Bordeaux, and Tuscany may be secure on their thrones of top wine destinations, but wine lovers don’t have to “go dry” on their visit to Kihei, Wailea, or Makena in Maui this summer. If you are looking for some summer Maui wine tasting during your time in our sunny paradise, then you absolutely have to visit Maui’s Winery at Ulupalakua Ranch (often also called Tedeschi Winery), the only commercial winery on the Valley Isle.

On your visit to Maui’s Winery, you’ll get a dose of history, some beautiful views, and of course, a taste of some delicious and award winning wines.

About The Winery

Maui’s Winery is Hawaii’s oldest winery and sits nestled in the hills of Haleakala in Ulupalakua. This winery has had a lot of time to perfect their delicious concoctions and to develop a versatile wine selection. The Rose Ranch at Tedeschi offers free tastings to all visitors (as if you needed another excuse to go!). You might even feel a little bit like royalty when you taste at this fine facility. The tasting room is located in the King’s Cottage built specifically for King Kalakaua, a frequent visitor to the family owned ranch property.

Wines of Maui’s Winery

As a true wine connoisseur, you must get a taste of the three distinct pineapple wines that Maui’s Winery is famous for. The winery also offers two grape wines, a signature dessert wine, and an estate red:

Hula O’ Maui: This sparkling wine combines floral with fresh pineapple and lemon zest. The exciting bubbly took home the Gold Medal Award at the Los Angeles International Wine Competition in 2012.

Maui Blanc: This semi-dry pineapple wine layers pineapple aromas with notes of lavender for a crisp finish.

Maui Splash: Anyone with a sweet tooth will adore this sweet pineapple wine that delivers tropical flavors and lots of fun.

Lokelani: This Hawaiian sparkling rose offers a bouquet of vanilla flower and orange blossom mixed with notes of citrus and toasted almond.

Upcountry Gold: This fine wine blends Viognier, Muscat and aged Chardonnay. Careful sippers will taste honeysuckle, pomelo, Asian pear and nectarine.

Plantation Red: This 2011 estate wine has a floral bouquet that will melt into notes of raspberry and autumn spice on the palate.

Framboise: Cap off your tasting with this decadent raspberry dessert wine that provides a rich and long-last flavor.

The tasting room at Maui’s Winery is open every day of the week, but we recommend you stop by for a guided summer wine tasting tour.
