Location, views, and layout
Wailea Ekolu Village climbs up a gentle hillside above Wailea Alanui Drive, which is why so many condos get those long, wide ocean views toward Kahoolawe and Molokini. The complex wraps around the fairways of the Wailea Blue Golf Course, so you are looking at green fairways in one direction and Pacific blues in the other.
The property is small by resort standards, just 17 two story buildings spread across over eighteen acres, with lots of open lawn, mature trees, and paved walkways that wind between units, pools, and parking.
Near the Wailea Town Center and Wailea Tennis courts, and within about a half mile are Wailea’s three golf courses, Wailea Blue, Gold, and Emerald.
How close is Wailea Ekolu to the beach and shops?
You are not oceanfront here, but you are genuinely close.
- The Shops at Wailea are roughly a 7 to 10 minute walk, about 0.4 miles, from many Ekolu units, or just a couple of minutes by car.
- Wailea Beach and Ulua Beach are about 0.8 miles downhill, around a 15 minute walk or a very short drive, with parking lots near the sand.
- From many listings you will see distances such as less than 1 mile to Wailea and Ulua, around 2 miles to Poolenalena, and about 2.5 miles to Makena Beach.
- If easy surf check from your lanai is a must, you might prefer an oceanfront complex. If you are happy with a quick walk or drive to the beach in exchange for bigger views and more space, Ekolu works very well.
- Keep in mind, if you’re walking, coming back uphill will take a bit longer than these estimates.

It also works well for longer stays, since the condos live more like small homes than traditional resort rooms.
Things to keep in mind:
- No elevators, so all upstairs units require taking stairs and some paths are sloped.
- You’ll drive 1-2 minutes or walk 10 to 15 minutes to get to the beach. If you want to walk out and be directly on the sand, look at Wailea Ekahi, Wailea Elua, or Makena Surf instead.
- Each condo is individually furnished, so check recent photos and descriptions before you pick a specific unit.

Policies typically include a 3 night deposit at booking, with full payment due 60 days before arrival. Holiday and long stay bookings have earlier final payment dates, around 90 days for Christmas and New Year and 120 days for stays of 28 nights or more. Cancellations more than 60 days before arrival usually incur a fee of 10 percent of gross rent or 200 dollars, whichever is higher, and cancellations inside 60 days are usually non refundable unless the condo can be re rented, in which case a partial refund may be issued.
