You might want to skip watching The Shallows this year and forget that you ever saw Jaws. That’s because this is going to be the most rad Maui vacation ever. Sure, you could hike up a volcano or go zip lining (we totally recommend doing these things, by the way), but that’s not what’s really going to make this island getaway stand out. Nope, you are going to go swimming with sharks.

As long as you are a certified diver, you can visit the Maui Ocean Center in Ma’alaea and take a swim in their 750,000-gallon tank. You’ll get some interesting company. The tank is home to up to 20 different sharks at any time.

Best Instagram Photos Ever

If you have the courage to jump into this literal shark tank (no entrepreneurial ideas required), you’ll have the opportunity to make friends with many different types of sharks, including Blacktip Reef Sharks, Hammerhead sharks, Tiger Sharks, Grey Reef Sharks, Sandbar Sharks, and more. The tank also contains lots of tropical fish and billowing manta rays. Don’t worry, you won’t need to wear mesh armor on your swim. These sharks won’t attack. In fact, you may begin to find them downright cute!

An Exclusive Opportunity

The Maui Ocean Center only allows a handful of shark tank dive appointments each week, so this is a truly rare opportunity. The swim can last up to 40 minutes. You are allowed to bring a friend who can watch you from the other side of the tank and take all those amazing pictures that will soon be flooding your Facebook page.

It’s important to note that you’ll be expected to bring your own wetsuit and fins, while the Maui Ocean Center will provide you with an air tank, weight belt, and other gear.

Can’t Be Missed

If you’ve always dreamed of seeing sharks up close and personal (just hopefully not a Great White!), this is your shot. You can book your swim on the Maui Ocean Center website. Not only will you walk away with an amazing experience and great pics, but if you find a shark tooth in the tank, you are allowed to keep it. Now that’s what we call a souvenir!
